We aimed to highlight, within the scientific literature, the discussions on teaching methods of Pharmacology in medical education. It is an integrative review conducted through the following steps: formulation of the guiding question, literature search, data collection, critical analysis of selected studies, interpretation of findings, and synthesis of results. The databases MEDLINE, SCIELO, and LILACS were consulted, and 44 articles were included. The identified teaching methods were grouped into three categories: Student-Centered and/or Active Learning Approaches, Technology- and Digital Resource-Based Methods, and Interactive and Playful Methods. Some of these strategies were tested regarding their effectiveness in the learning process and acceptance by teachers and students. Most methods showed superior outcomes in theoretical examinations compared with traditional approaches, as well as advantages in medium- and long-term knowledge acquisition and retention. High levels of acceptance were also reported, with both students and faculty recognizing them as more dynamic methodologies. These findings may contribute to fostering reflection among medical educators about adopting such methods their daily pedagogical practices.
